I took a large piece of wood and let myself start carving unplanned. Like a meditation, something primal.

I painted the carving white, then burned it created the darker areas. The centre is made of burned wood covered with a glass-like resin. The centrepiece is ceramic stoneware, multi-fired with a black/white/green lava glaze. I smashed several pieces of it until I got the perfect "half-moon" shaped shard. The entire piece is stabilised with sprayed fixative/resin.
